COVID Testing Laredo, Pharr, Weslaco
DOC-AID Urgent Care offers several types of COVID-19 testing in Laredo, TX, and the RGV. Each is used for a specific reason. Your provider will determine which test is right for you.
We have five convenient Urgent Care locations in Laredo Tx, Weslaco Tx, and Pharr Tx to treat you. In addition to our physical locations, we offer telemedicine services to provide you with care anytime, anywhere in Texas!
COVID-19 PCR In-House Lab
Results are typically available on the same day but may take longer due to the current surge in COVID-19 cases and increased testing demand. COVID-19 lab testing is available at all of our locations.
At DOC-AID Urgent Care, our laboratory has the latest technology, allowing us to process PCR COVID-19 tests in-house and provide same-day results in most cases. PCR tests are the gold standard, relying on DNA amplification to produce consistent, reliable results. Results are usually ready on the same day.
COVID-19 PCR Testing Outside Lab
Sometimes, a sample may be sent to an outside laboratory for processing. Results for these tests take 2-3 business days (weekends and holidays may delay processing). PCR tests are the gold standard. They rely on DNA amplification to produce consistent, reliable results. Results are usually ready in 2-3 days.
COVID-19 Antigen Testing In-House Lab
Antigen tests are immunoassays that detect the presence of a specific viral antigen, which implies a current viral infection. Antigen tests for SARS-CoV-2 are generally less sensitive than real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and other nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs) for detecting the presence of viral nucleic acid. (Source: CDC). Results are usually ready on the same day.
COVID-19 Antibody Testing (In-House Processing)
Antibody or serology tests look for antibodies in your blood to determine if you had a past infection with the virus that causes COVID-19.
- Antibodies are proteins created by your body’s immune system soon after you have been infected or vaccinated.
- Antibodies help you fight off infections and can protect you from getting that disease again. How long this protection may last is different for each disease and each person.
Antibody tests should not be used to diagnose a current infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. An antibody test may not show if you have a current infection because it can take 1–3 weeks after the infection for your body to make antibodies. (Source: CDC) Results are usually ready the same day.
